ANALYSIS OF FAMILY GROUPS - Gunnison Sage-Grouse

Collaborators:
Julie Stiver and Robert Gibson, University of Nebraska, Lincoln

Funding Partner:
Colorado Division of Wildlife

Summary:

Using microsatellite analysis, we are investigating what percentage of males actually breed in the lekking Gunnison Sage-Grouse. To do this, we are determining the paternity of chicks from broods. This data will allow us to discover whether chicks in the same brood all have the same father. Using this same data, we can also predict what percentage of males on a lek actually pass on their genes to the next generation.
